Our sauna in Lårdal is beautifully located at the water’s edge of the majestic Lake Bandak – one of the most scenic lakes along the Telemark Canal. Enjoy panoramic views of the canal, surrounded by green hills and peaceful nature.

Whether you’re unwinding after a day outdoors or simply seeking calm and well-being, we warmly welcome you to a restorative sauna session.

For the full experience, combine your sauna visit with a refreshing swim in the clear waters of Bandak – an unbeatable combination that cleanses both body and mind.


🧖 Booking & Practical Information

  • 2–3 hours advance notice is required to allow time for heating

  • Heating time depends on weather conditions

  • For immediate bookings, contact Magnus: +47 46320821 to check if the sauna is already warm

  • Towels must be brought or rented (not included in booking)

  • Booking is simple: choose your date, start time, and end time

  • We recommend creating a user account for faster future bookings


🚻 Changing Rooms & Facilities

  • Located in the red building marked WC

  • Entrance on the short side facing the parking area

  • Operated by volunteers – please help us keep it clean and open

Please:

  • Leave everything as you found it

  • Clean up after yourself

  • Leave shoes in the hallway

  • Show respect for the property


💧 Important: Water on the Heater

Using too much water can damage the heating elements and ruin the sauna experience.

  • Ice cubes are recommended (they melt slowly)

  • ✅ Maximum ½ ladle of water every 15 minutes

  • ❌ Children are not allowed to pour water

  • Only the responsible renter may pour water

  • The renter is financially liable for damage caused by misuse

Damage from excessive water use is easily visible (burned or warped elements).


🪣 How to Fetch Water Correctly

  1. Take the wooden bucket from inside the sauna and place it on the bench outside

  2. Use the zinc bucket located outside

  3. Lower it gently into the water – do not throw it

  4. Fill it, pour into the wooden bucket, and bring it back inside


✅ Guidelines for Safe & Comfortable Use

  • Wash your entire body thoroughly before use

  • Always sit on a clean towel

  • Keep the door closed to preserve heat

  • Maximum ½ ladle of water every 15 minutes

  • Pregnant women and small children should avoid use

  • The sauna control panel is for staff only

  • Keep noise levels calm and pleasant

  • Do not use the sauna if you feel unwell, dizzy, or have open wounds


🚫 Not Allowed

  • Greasy creams or oils

  • Snus, smoking, chewing gum

  • Shaving, hair cutting, or body treatments

  • Pens or sharp objects that may damage the wood


🌊 Swimming in Lake Bandak – Important

  • Water is shallow and regulated

  • Do not jump or dive from the platform

  • Use the ladder or boat ramp for safe access

  • All swimming is at your own risk

  • Ice bathing must never take place alone without supervision

  • No refunds

  • Exceptions may be made in special circumstances

  • No refunds for same-day cancellations or discounted bookings
